Our story: finding a way forward
My journey with mental health has been a lifelong battle, marked by major depressive disorder and, more recently, PTSD. The deepest wound came 14 years ago when my twin sons were kidnapped by their father, never to be seen again since they were 8. This profound loss led to a diagnosis of suicidal ideation depression, and managing it has come at a great personal cost.
Through it all, I've learned that "nothing happens until something moves." Exercise, socialising at least once a week, and even small tricks like raising your eyebrows and slightly smiling for 15 seconds can shift your mindset. I also discovered the power of acknowledging emotions. When anger, extreme sadness, fear, or anxiety arise, name them. Say, "I am feeling angry," and you'll find it impossible to hold onto that emotion while labelling it. These lessons, born from struggle, inspired me to create 'A Way Forward' – a place where no one has to walk their path alone.

Our main goal at 'A Way Forward' is to raise awareness of mental health like never before. We want you to feel seen, heard, and understood. By sharing our stories and supporting each other, we can break down the stigma surrounding mental illness and create a world where everyone feels comfortable seeking help.
